A Trip To Melaka

A few days ago, my school's St.John Ambulance Malaysia committee hosted a trip to Melaka and visited a few places. We visited a few dialysis centres, a HQ for St.John Ambulance Malaysia, a disabled centre and a orphanage. We recruited arpund 40 members and 4 teachers to come along for this trip.

On day one, we went to two dialysis centres and learnt about patients that are having kidney failures and how do they operate their dialysis centres. Apparently, each patient needs 3 treatments per week. Every alternate day, they have to visit the dialysis centre and spend 4 hours there having a tube stuck to their neck or arm. We saw how the blood goes through the tube and into the dialysis machine. In the dialysis machine, it has miliions of mini filters to filter the dirty blood. Our guide told us all about the dialysis centre and took us on a tour in their centre.

On day two, we went to the headquarters for St.John Ambulance Malaysia in Melaka. They told us their history and their heart unit. Every first Thursday of the month, their HQ will be open for patients who wants a check up on their heart. The supportness from their members who are willing to help out even after a whole day at work really inspires me. Even if they are tired, they are still happy to put on a smile and help the patients. They then showed us their heart unit workplace and it was quite small but manageble.

It was day three and we had to go home. The members had learnt a lot and they were grateful for this journey to Melaka. I hope the members will continue to contribute to St.John and realise that all their doings had not gone to waste.

Friendships

To me, friends are important. They are the ones who are there to cheer me up when I'm down and the ones who are willing to help me when i need it. Everyone needs to have a friend in their life. Everyone has their ups and downs and needs someone to help them go through all of their problems.

I have a friend whose name is Alyssa Tan. Even though in school we are in different classes, we ought to spend time with each other whenever we can. She would stay back with me if I needed a friend to and she would always be the first one I talk my problems to. She would always be delighted to help me and go through my problems with me. I hope I will never loose her as a friend and I hope for more time to spend with each other.

But there is a problem in friendships, some are real and some aren't. Fake friends doesn't really want you to be involved in their lives. They are the ones who won't help you when you have problems because they don't want to get involved with you and your problems. Some of those fakers actually uses you to solve their own problems instead. Some people never realise their fake friends. I don't blame them, I blame those fakers. One day they will realise how much they've wasted their time for them and will be more careful when making new friends.

Teenagers Nowadays

Teenagers nowadays are more likely to be pressured by either their family, school or even friends. When they are pressured by it, most of them would get lost and doesn't know how to retrieve back their old-self, whereas some of them knows how to handle pressures like this. When most of them get lost and doesn't know the right way to retrieve their old-self back, they do drugs as it will take them to their own little imaginative world where they could be free from the pressures that are given to them. This includes smoking, vaping, drinking alcohol and many more. When they thought they could retrieve themselves from this disaster, they actually create more disasterous problems such as not going to school, having attitude problems and also do not mind to shame themselves in front of billions of people. Sometimes these things that happened can bring down the name of their family, school and also their future.

Another point is that teenagers nowadays are addicted to social media. Examples of social media are facebook, instagram, whatsapp, snapchat and many more. Most of them think social media is the essential thing that is used to communicate with friends and family. This allows them to not communicate a lot in real life with real feelings and emotions. Most of them think that communicating this way is much more better as you dont have to show their true colours. Some of them are afraid of showing their true colours as it might affect their friendship among friends. While some just dont talk to people in real life but talk to people they've never met before. These are all very dangerous and parents should always warn their children to not talk to strangers online as it may cause something bad to happen to them.

We as teenagers should take precautions and make sure that we think before we do anything. Anything could happen to us any day, anytime, any second. We have to be careful and choose the right path before regretting what we've done as you can't change the past but decide on your own future.

Valentine's Day

My Thoughts On Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was created after the death of Saint Valentine whom illegally marry couples during a time period when marriage was illegal. He helped couples to meet and marry them secretly since he was a pastor himself. Eventually Saint Valentine was caught and was sent to prison with the punishment of having to chop his head off. He passed on the 14th of February in the year 270. After that very day, 14th of February is now called Valentine's Day to remember the justice he brought to allowing couples to marry.

Even though Saint Valentine was a person that marry "couples". It doesn't mean that we HAVE to celebrate Valentine's Day with either a boyfriend or a girlfriend. Saint Valentine opened peoples' mindset about "love". Love doesn't mean only your soul-mate or "the one". You can always celebrate Valentine's Day with a loved one. For example, your mum, dad, siblings, family and even friends! Valentine's Day is a day that is meant to appreciate the people we love around us, a day to think about how much they care about them, a day that we actually put effort in to buy them food for once!

To all those single people out there, always remember that whenever you go out during Valentine's Day and see all those couples taking pictures with each other or spending time together, don't be too shy to bring a friend along and spend the Valentine's with them instead! The best part is that whenever someone asks you who your valentine is for the year, be brave and tell them that its the person sitting in front of you. No matter if it is a guy or a girl or your mum or dad or even a whole gang of friends! You love them and so do they and because of that you have tthat love connection between you guys *wink wink*.

My point is that no matter who you are going to "date" on that day, always remember the real meaning of Valentine's Day and enjoy it no matter what happens. If there is one in a million chance that your partner turns down on you (touch wood), have no fear! Call your best friend up or even your parents! They will never turn down on you, in fact they will be there by your side even when things are not going the way you want it to be. This is my opinion on Valentine's Day, it is not exactly what everyone thinks of it but this is how I understand it.
