My Thoughts On Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day was created after the death of Saint Valentine whom illegally marry couples during a time period when marriage was illegal. He helped couples to meet and marry them secretly since he was a pastor himself. Eventually Saint Valentine was caught and was sent to prison with the punishment of having to chop his head off. He passed on the 14th of February in the year 270. After that very day, 14th of February is now called Valentine's Day to remember the justice he brought to allowing couples to marry.
Even though Saint Valentine was a person that marry "couples". It doesn't mean that we HAVE to celebrate Valentine's Day with either a boyfriend or a girlfriend. Saint Valentine opened peoples' mindset about "love". Love doesn't mean only your soul-mate or "the one". You can always celebrate Valentine's Day with a loved one. For example, your mum, dad, siblings, family and even friends! Valentine's Day is a day that is meant to appreciate the people we love around us, a day to think about how much they care about them, a day that we actually put effort in to buy them food for once!
To all those single people out there, always remember that whenever you go out during Valentine's Day and see all those couples taking pictures with each other or spending time together, don't be too shy to bring a friend along and spend the Valentine's with them instead! The best part is that whenever someone asks you who your valentine is for the year, be brave and tell them that its the person sitting in front of you. No matter if it is a guy or a girl or your mum or dad or even a whole gang of friends! You love them and so do they and because of that you have tthat love connection between you guys *wink wink*.
My point is that no matter who you are going to "date" on that day, always remember the real meaning of Valentine's Day and enjoy it no matter what happens. If there is one in a million chance that your partner turns down on you (touch wood), have no fear! Call your best friend up or even your parents! They will never turn down on you, in fact they will be there by your side even when things are not going the way you want it to be. This is my opinion on Valentine's Day, it is not exactly what everyone thinks of it but this is how I understand it.
